Yves Klein’s Fire-Color 1 sells for US$36.40 million
Yves Klein's painting 'FC 1' (Fire-Color 1) has sold at a Christie's Post War and Contemporary Art sale in New York to an anonymous buyer for US$36.40 million which includes the buyer's premium. The painting was created with a blowtorch, water, and two models - Klein sprayed the models with water who pressed their bodies against a board which was then seared with a blowtorch. The moist areas where the models pressed their bodies against formed outlines as seen in the photo below. FC1 was made a few weeks before Klein died at age 34 in 1962.

The Histrionic Wayfarer by Tim Storrier
Australian artist Tim Storrier holds his dog Smudge as he stands next to his painting 'The Histrionic Wayfarer' after winning the Archibald prize of AUD77,972 (US$75,000) for portraiture at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, on March 30, 2012. Storrier beat out 40 other finalists with his self-portrait which is based on a 1519 Hieronymus Bosch painting titled 'The Wayfarer.

Ochre and Black by Adolph Gottlieb
The Pace Gallery in New York City is hosting a new exhibition titled 'Gravity, Suspension, Motion: Paintings 1954-1972' which features twelve paintings by Abstract-Expressionist painter Adolph Gottlieb. The works on display include Gottlieb's early Pictograph paintings to his iconic Burst series. In the photo below, 'Ochre and Black,' an oil on canvas which was painted by Gottlieb in 1962.

Bloodline – Big Family: Family No. 2 going on auction
Artist Zhang Xiaogang's 'Bloodline - Big Family: Family No. 2' (Lot 810) oil on canvas painting is going on sale at Sotheby's Contemporary Asian Art 2012 sale in Hong Kong on April 2, 2012 with a pre-sale estimate of US$3.2 to $4.5 million. In 2008, Xiaogang's 'Bloodline: The Big Family No. 3' sold for nearly US$6 million in a Sotheby's Contemporary Asian art auction.
