Red Rabbit at Sacramento Int’l Airport

Visitors to the new Sacramento International Airport terminal who stroll into the baggage claim area are greeted by a massive red rabbit with a geodesic 'skin' design. Lawrence Argent's 56-foot aluminum sculpture of a red rabbit titled 'Leap' weighs 10,000 pounds and cost US$800,00 to build and install. The rabbit's leap is immortalized in time as it jumps through the atrium but never lands on the floor below thanks to seven cables which keep the enormous bunny at bay. The airport terminal opened on October 6 and thanks to the red rabbit, a nickname is making the rounds - 'The Hare-port.'
