Ice Ball Mold makes spherical ice for drinks
Ever wonder how you can have a perfectly chilled drink without the watered down taste? Your solution might be the 'Ice Ball Mold' from Japan which forms perfectly shaped spheres of ice which cool your drink without watering it down as quickly as a normal ice cube would. A sphere has less surface area than a cube which results in a slower rate of melting inside a glass. This trend of using spherical ice started in Japanese bars and home users can also produce their own spheres of ice with no muss nor fuss.
The Ice Ball Mold is made out of heavy duty aluminum and doesn't require electricity to operate. To create a ball of ice, heat the mold in hot water, place a block of ice inside the mold and seal the top. A few seconds later, a perfect sphere is produced which can be dunked into a drink. Customers may also purchase novelty molds to create different shapes including snow flakes, baseballs, soccer balls, and water molecules. The standard 'Ice Ball Mold for Perfect Ice Spheres' is priced at US$217 but prices go up to US$3,000 for specialty molds. Manufacturer's website.
