The otter who launched a million memes

Okay, maybe a million is exaggerating but the 'Praying Otter' photo by photographer Marac Andrev Kolodzinski has been making the rounds for a few years now. How did the photo come about? Kolodzinski, age 49, was at the Whipsnade Zoo, in Dunstable, Bedfordshire, UK and freezing in frigid temperatures when he got his chance for the perfect praying otter photo.

Says Kolodzinski, "You don't get those snaps by chance, I had to keep wandering around keeping watch on what was going on, waiting for the right time. I took the photos at Whipsnade Zoo, which has this island with a purpose built moat for the otters. I had to hide there for a long time to get the shot. The otter was running around cradling a stone under his arm when he was surprised by another otter jumping out of the water which caused him to jump and throw the stone in the air. When he started trying to grab it I took the snap."
