Frozen Planet: Polar bear and cubs

A mother polar bear feeds her famished cubs in an aerial photograph taken for the BBC television series, 'Frozen Planet.' This particular polar bear mama hasn't eaten in five months but her fat and milk reserves are ample enough to feed her cubs and sustain her for months on end. Once her cubs are old enough, she'll lead them on a hunt for seal prey and refill her fat and milk reserves. Mother bears abandon their cubs when they are two and a half years old, upon which time they'll fend for themselves in the Arctic Circle.
